2013 Sauvignon Blanc

Produced from 3 cane vines, the fruit for the 2013 Sauvignon Blanc was harvested on 5th April 2013, at 22.5 Brix, followed by crushing and gentle pressing. The clear juice was cool fermented and temperature control ensured the ferment was long and slow to retain primary fruit character and aromatics. Fermentation was halted at around 6.5g/l residual sugar to balance the natural acidity of the grapes. The wine was kept on light lees for 4 months with occasional stirring - this has allowed the wine integrate somewhat and has enhanced the texture and mid-palate weight.

The wine was finished and filtered prior to bottling in August 2013.

Tasting Notes

Delicately fragrant nose showing tropical passionfruit and citrus, together with a “sea breeze” mineral note. The juicy palate shows ripe citrus, blackcurrant and peach characters, with a smooth and lingering finish.

Kina Cliffs Sauvignon Blanc 2014 is the perfect partner to pan-seared scallops, fresh seafood, chicken dishes and leafy green salads. Enjoy now or within the next 2-3 years.

What's been said?

A mouth-watering sauvignon, the fragrant bouquet shows grapefruit, feijoa, lime zest and capsicum characters, followed by a lively palate that's intense and lingering. It's racy and crisp dry on the finish. At its best: now to 2016, Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, October 2014.
