2012 Sauvignon Blanc

Produced from 3 cane vines, the fruit for the 2012 Sauvignon Blanc was harvested on 24th April 2012, at 23.5 Brix, followed by crushing and gentle pressing. The clear juice was cool fermented and temperature control ensured the ferment was long and slow to retain primary fruit character and aromatics. Fermentation was halted at around 3.5g/l residual sugar to balance the natural acidity of the grapes. The wine was kept on light lees for 4 months with occasional stirring - this has allowed the wine integrate somewhat and has enhanced the texture and mid-palate weight.

The wine was finished and filtered prior to bottling in August 2012.

Tasting Notes

Delicately fragrant nose showing tropical passionfruit and citrus, together with a “sea breeze” mineral note. The juicy palate shows ripe citrus, blackcurrant and peach characters, with a smooth and lingering finish.

Kina Cliffs Sauvignon Blanc 2012 is the perfect partner to pan-seared scallops, fresh seafood, chicken dishes and leafy green salads. Enjoy now or within the next 2-3 years.

What's been said?

This sauvignon is about discreet power and beautiful poise. It's delicately fragrant on the nose displaying white peach, citrus and dill characters with a hint of flinty notes. The palate is finely textured and elegantly fruited with a lengthy, juicy finish. - 90/100, 4.5 stars, Sam Kim, Wine Orbit.
